A person or business may not perform or offer to perform electrical work unless the person or business holds an appropriate license issued by the State of Texas. Should a fire occur because of an illuminated sign that was not manufactured or installed by a licensed electrical sign contractor, your insurance company could have the option of denying your claim.
At Signature Signs & Graphics, we hold all of the necessary licenses and insurance requirements to do any kind of electrical sign work within the State of Texas. All license numbers can be checked online at www.tdlr.texas.gov.
For your own protection, the workmen who show up to install your sign should be employees of the sign company and be able to provide proof of Workman’s Compensation Insurance. Should an installer injure themselves on your property without Workman’s Compensation Insurance, you could be vulnerable to an injury lawsuit.
Signature Signs & Graphics carries the proper insurance for our employees.
FIn nearly every case, placing a sign on the outside of your building will require a permit from the city where you’re located. Installing signs without the necessary permits can result in fines, compliance changes or even a forced removal of the sign.
Over the years, we have built great working relationships with our local cities. You can rest assured that we will make sure that the permit process will be handled correctly.
If you’re shopping around for multiple bids, don’t just look at the final end-price as your only compairson. Make sure that you compare every aspect of our quote against others that you may recieve. Some companies may not include permits or installation in their initial bid or may be quoting different sized letters, cheaper materials or may not even include a warranty.
These are some things to ask about when requesting quotes:
- What size letters are being quoted?
- What thickness of acrylic/polycarbonate is being used?
- How long is your warranty and what is included?
- Do you manufacture the sign yourself?
- What type of lighting will be used in my sign?
- Will you be subcontracting the installation?
- Are city permits included in the price?
